Webinar on the European Accessibility Act

24/04/2025, 12:00-13:30

Are you ready? As of June 2025, certain financial and fintech institutions operating in Belgium, and across Europe, will be expected to comply with new accessibility standards that reshape how we deliver products and services.

In this exclusive session with DLA Piper, we’ll break down what the European Accessibility Act (EAA) means for the financial sector, how it will affect consumer banking and digital services, and what concrete steps you need to take to stay compliant. You’ll hear from two leading legal experts from DLA Piper’s Financial Services & Insurance team in Belgium. Joris Latui, a senior legal advisor at DLA Piper, will provide insight into EU regulatory compliance and what it means for financial institutions. Louise Van Marcke, also from DLA Piper, will focus on the legal implications of accessibility and how to manage evolving compliance requirements. They will guide you through:

  • Scope & Definitions: what products, services, and entities are affected?

  • New Accessibility Standards: how will your institution need to adapt?

  • Key Exceptions: what qualifies as a “fundamental change” or “disproportionate burden”?

  • Compliance Statements: how to integrate them into your customer-facing terms.

  • Timeline & Roadmap: what to do now to be ready by June 2025.

We’re also excited to welcome Ergomania, who will share a real-world business case on accessible design in financial services, turning regulation into opportunity. From a design and UX perspective, Adam Dragus will share best practices on creating inclusive fintech products that meet both user needs and regulatory expectations.
